Krishnnya Guttedar has a special job at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. He is one of the 24 trainers who have been assigned to supervise their own dogs that serve as guards for the stadium. Loads has been written about the stadium that has dogs for guards, but Krishna, who has been Sunny - the Labrador's - trainer for the last five years, tells us a slightly different story in his native Marathi.          "We are 24 trainers, who are assigned one dog each. We have been trained at the police academy and in turn have trained the dogs that have been assigned to us. I have been taking care of Sunny since he was a few weeks old. He is five now," he says as a playful Labrador is as excited as ever.            "We are assigned the job of walking them, feeding them, ensuring their vaccinations are done on time. They only listen to us. On match days, while 5-6 dogs are guarding the gates, the others are along the boundary lines wi

Seven Things Nobody Saw Coming in This IPL

Seven Things Nobody Saw Coming in This IPL Predicting the IPL is like calling election results where everyone seems to know what's going to happen, which way the wind is blowing and who is likely to win. Every cricket fan, observer, expert or guru feels he has cracked it but the game delivers unexpected googlies to prove them wrong. This season, the IPL has unfolded in a quirky manner, defeating common wisdom and defying the conventional. Here are things that no expert or fan saw coming . 1. Collective Failure of India's Stars The triumphant Indian stars who vanquished England and Australia collapsed in a heap in the IPL. Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha (except in the last match against Mumbai Indians) ran out of oxygen, their bats went cold and left no impact. Rahul and Ashwin pulled out with injuries and Ishant was not good enough to merit a regular place in Kings eleven's eleven. This shows that t

Bengaluru, May 8: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) donned a green jersey yesterday (May 6) in their IPL 2017 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.        In an attempt to spread awareness on environmental conservation and global warming, RCB wear the green jersey on a particular day as a part of their Go Green initiative. The franchise started this initiative from 2011. The jerseys are made from recycled plastic bottles which are found and collected from in and around the stadium during RCB's home matches. Sandeep Sharma fined 50 per cent of his match fee

Image
Mohali, May 8: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) fast bowler Sandeep Sharma was on Monday fined 50 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during his team's IPL 2017 match against Gujarat Lions (GL) at I.S. Bindra Stadium.       In the fifth over of the Gujarat Lions innings on Sunday, Sandeep decided to switch to round-the-wicket but umpire Nand Kishore called a no-ball as he believed that the bowler did not inform him about the change.        Sharma admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.1.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanction, as such there was no need for a formal hearing. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding. After posting 189/3, Punjab bowlers failed to step up to the occasion as Gujarat romped home by six wickets with two deliveries to spare. With this result, their chances of qualifying for the playoffs took a major h

After a long drama between BCCI and ICC finally BCCI announced squad for Champions trophy.       Manish Pandey, who hasn't played for the national side in the 50-over format since the series against New Zealand in October last year despite being selected for the subsequent one-day series against England, was named in India's 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy announced on Monday (May 8) - a day after the BCCI gave the all-clear to participate in the tournament.       Rohit Sharma, the opening batsman, returns to the set-up after having been ruled out for four months in November last year due to a thigh injury. Difference between baseball and cricket?

Hello guys☺ Baseball and Cricket are two well-known members of the "bat and ball" family of games. While the basic principle is the same, the two games differ in their rules, terminology, playing equipment, number of players, field size etc. Cricket: Baseball: Comparison chart:                                    BAT BASEBALL:       Round like a baton with a tapered handle ending at a knob. See who will win 41'st match between KKR VS RPS

Image
Hello guys☺ 41'st match between KKR VS RPS With the top four slots beginning to become clearer as the tournament wears on, the fight to occupy the top two positions is intensifying. Kolkata Knight Riders have had one of the smoothest runs among all teams in the tournament and their most hurting loss came only in the last game when they were run over by David Warner's damaging 59-ball 126. On the other side of the ring are the Rising Pune Supergiant, who have exhibited supreme recovery skills to bounce back from three successive losses and make their way up the ladder. Essentially, there are two types of wins that could fire up your confidence; one that is resounding where you maul the opposition, the other where you rise from your own ashes to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Pune's previous win was more the latter, masterminded by their costliest acquisition - Ben Stokes, that provided them the perfect impetus needed to take on KKR - the team that they last
