Hello guys☺

41'st match between KKR VS RPS

With the top four slots beginning to become clearer as the tournament wears on, the fight to occupy the top two positions is intensifying. Kolkata Knight Riders have had one of the smoothest runs among all teams in the tournament and their most hurting loss came only in the last game when they were run over by David Warner's damaging 59-ball 126. On the other side of the ring are the Rising Pune Supergiant, who have exhibited supreme recovery skills to bounce back from three successive losses and make their way up the ladder. Essentially, there are two types of wins that could fire up your confidence; one that is resounding where you maul the opposition, the other where you rise from your own ashes to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Pune's previous win was more the latter, masterminded by their costliest acquisition - Ben Stokes, that provided them the perfect impetus needed to take on KKR - the team that they last lost to in the tournament.

In what as an optional practice session for the hosts on the eve of the match, there was not much humdrum around the nets at the Eden Gardens. But after a few minutes, in walked Chris Lynn for one of his first practice sessions in three weeks. It started with a few jogs around the boundary line before moving onto some close-in catching drills. He also batted for close to half an hour. Having confirmed his comeback some time over the next seven odd days, Lynn exuded a sense of comfort, for the first time since long. Over the course of the next half an hour, almost the entire team was spotted practising at their home turf, in a bid to return to winning ways again.

The Rising Pune Supergiant didn't opt for the pre-match practice session, having finished a game only late last night. There would have been fatigue, as well as a fresh hangover from what was a miraculous win against the Gujarat Lions. There's either an unavoidable hype about the moolah shelled out for a big player or speculation if he is truly worth it, and much of it was put to rest when Ben Stokes cracked a scintillating 63-ball hundred to single-handedly take Pune over the line.

Imran Tahir has ticked the right boxes by being the flag bearer of Pune's bowling unit this time. Young Washington Sundar has performed the containing job well while Jaydev Unadkat has been the pick of the faster men. The likes of Dan Christian, Shardul Thakur and Ben Stokes have rallied around well, as well, maintaining a calming steadiness around the Pune bowling.

Pitch conditions:

The evening game between KKR and RPS will be played on a different wicket to the one that was used for their previous encounter. Expected to be another surface with a grass covering, it should aid the pacers as it has throughout the season. Dew would come into play and batting second should come in handy, like the KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir has mostly preferred.

Head to Head:
Pune are yet to taste a victory against the two-time IPL champions. They lost on both occasions in the previous season before Gambhir and Uthappa combined to sink them with a 158-run stand in the only face-off so far in this edition.

Teams strategy:

Rising Pune Supergiant: RPS should not make any changes to the eleven that won them the game against Gujarat Lions to consolidate their standing in the Top Four. While there was a whole lot of doubt about Stokes's fitness before the previous game, his match-winning knock has now ensured that apart from any niggle, he is not going to miss out at all for as long as he is around for Pune's campaign.

Expected XI: Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Tripathi, Steven Smith (c), Manoj Tiwary, MS Dhoni (wk), Ben Stokes, Daniel Christian, Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir

Kolkata Knight Riders: The KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir had hinted at the toss in the previous game that if it ain't broke, why bother fixing it? Whether he has spotted some chink in the armour following his side's loss against SRH, it is highly unlikely, which means the hosts could play the same eleven again. Kuldeep's assuring success and not-much-seen trickery should keep him ahead of the experienced leggie Piyush Chawla. That aside, when does Shakib Al Hasan play his next game is also a question that seemed to be doing the rounds on the eve of the match. He can only come in at Colin de Grandhomme's cost, but that looks unlikely.

Excepted XI: Gautam Gambhir (c), Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa (wk), Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Sheldon Jackson, Chris Woakes, Colin de Grandhomme, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav

RPS is playing in the fortresses of KKR, Considering all this points mostly KKR will win.
This is only my point of view.
